WoW Classic Timewalking: How to Register and Log In (Step-by-Step Guide)

Blizzard recently launched the World of Warcraft Classic Timewalking servers — a fresh take on WoW Classic that cycles through expansions on a seasonal cadence. If you’re trying to get in but stuck on the registration or login process, here’s a straightforward walkthrough.

Step 1: Create or Log Into Your Battle.net Account

Before anything else, you need a Blizzard Battle.net account:

  • Go to account.battle.net
  • Click “Create Account” — you’ll need an email address and a password
  • If you already have one (from Overwatch, Diablo, etc.), just log in

No subscription is needed at this point — you can download the launcher and browse for free.

Step 2: Download the Battle.net Desktop App

  • Download the installer from blizzard.com/download
  • Install and log in with your Battle.net credentials
  • The app will show you all available Blizzard games

Step 3: Find WoW Classic Timewalking

  • In the Battle.net app, select World of Warcraft from the game list
  • Click the Version Selector dropdown (just above the big “Install” button)
  • Choose World of Warcraft Classic — not Retail, not Wrath Classic
  • Click Install

The download is about 15-20GB depending on your region. Grab a coffee ☕

Step 4: Choose the Timewalking Realm

Once installed and launched:

  • Select WoW Classic from the launcher
  • You’ll see a list of Realms categorized by type
  • Look for the Timewalking tag — these are the seasonal fresh servers
  • Pick a realm, pick your faction (Alliance or Horde), and create your character

Pro tip: PvP realms are generally more populated but also more chaotic. If you’re new to Classic, start on a Normal or RP realm.

Step 5: Subscribe to Play

WoW Classic Timewalking requires an active subscription:

  • Monthly: $14.99 USD
  • 3 months: $13.99/month
  • 6 months: $12.99/month

You can subscribe directly in the Battle.net app under the WoW tab, or via account.battle.net.

Common Issues & Fixes

Can’t see Classic in the dropdown Make sure you’re logged into the right region (Americas, Europe, etc.)
“No subscription” error Even with game time, you need to select Classic specifically — Retail subscription doesn’t auto-grant Classic access
Realm list is empty Try switching your account region in the launcher settings
High queue times Timewalking fresh servers are popular. Pick a medium-population realm to avoid queues

Final Tip: Join the Community

The Timewalking servers have a surprisingly active community, especially on Discord. Search for “WoW Classic Timewalking Discord” — you’ll find guild recruitment, dungeon groups, and addon recommendations.

See you in Azeroth! ⚔️
